Police identify living Jane Doe thanks to flood of tips

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI – Community tips helped police figure out the identity of a living Jane Doe found in Al Sabo Land Preserve.

Takai Crute, 22, of Kalamazoo, was identified Sunday, April 23, Michigan State Police said in a news release. She was found wondering Al Sabo Land Preserve by a hiker Thursday, April 20.

State police were flooded with tips that helped them identify the woman, who was not able to communicate with police.

Crute in good health and is the care of Adult Protective Services, police said.

She was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital for medical care and evaluation, police said.

She was carrying a garbage bag of clothes when she was found, police said previously, and she had no identification with her.

Police are not releasing more details about the circumstances at this time because it could compromise the investigation, MSP said. More information will be released once the case is wrapped up, police said.
