We are back today is International Chefs Day. It is *** time to honor chefs and promote healthy eating. As our Chris Peterson shows us some students at North for North Forsyth High School got *** lesson about the joys of cooking from *** popular local chef. Everyone knows the fastest way to *** reporter’s heart is through his stomach. And on International Chef’s Day, Chef Don and the good folks at Chartwells K 12 are helping share the love of healthy eating. This one was delicious. I love this one. I love the flavor is really good. Students at North Forsyth High School are experiencing *** flavorful lesson in healthy eating. We’re exploring food and nutrition and getting kids excited about, you know, their food and what they are taking in. And so I don’t think that nutrition is like, you know, such *** bad word. The students were tasked with *** pretty delicious assignment. Taste testing, three different oatmeal flavors. There’s cranberry, pumpkin banana split and carrot cake. The winning flavor receives *** permanent spot on the breakfast menu at all. Winston, Salem, Forsyth County schools nutritious does taste good and this is the proof. I mean try any of these. You’ll see. So they did and it tastes like chocolate. I really like the chocolate. I think that the pumpkin is definitely the best. I don’t know. It just has, it has like really good flavors c nutritious can be delicious. Still students shared with us the challenges of eating healthy. This school just itself is surrounded by *** whole bunch of fast food places and not *** lot of people have moms that can cook for them and dads that can cook for them. So they go to these fast food restaurants that around the street, uh, *** 30 minute walk away because it’s, and that’s food for thought. We can’t receive wonderful education if we don’t have *** good basis in the morning. And our tummy is full of good things that helps us, uh, concentrate on the things of the day. So, since I’m here, I might as well try it myself. I hear this. Cranberry pumpkin is pretty good. Oh, yeah. At North Forsyth High School. I’m Chris Peterson WXI I 12 News.

North Forsyth High School students received a flavorful lesson in healthy eating. Students tried out three flavors of overnight oats, and the most popular choice wins a permanent spot on the breakfast menu at all Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. The choices include Banana Split, Cranberry Pumpkin and Carrot Cake.Students we spoke with say there’s a convenience factor when it comes to fast food, and the taste outweighs the fact that it’s not good for you. But these chefs are sharing with students how easy it is to cook nutritious food and the importance of eating healthy.Ahesha Walker, executive chef for Chartwells K12 said, “We can’t receive a wonderful education if we don’t have a good basis in the morning and our tummies full of good things that helps us concentrate on the things of the day.”Banana Split was the early favorite to win the taste test.
