Driscoll Health Plan will host Back to School Events for LISD, UISD

Driscoll Health Plan will be hosting its ninth-annual Back to School Community event to support United Independent School District and Laredo Independent School District students with resources and supplies for this upcoming school year.

On Saturday July 23 at Lamar Middle School Gymnasium at 1818 N. Arkansas Ave. from 8-11:30 a.m, Driscoll Health Plan will be present along with several other organizations providing students school supplies.

During this event, 500 backpacks will be given away by Driscoll Health Plan.

COVID-19 immunizations will be also available for families who qualify.

This event will be only for LISD families and McKinney-Vento and Colonias program.

On the other hand, for UISD students the following weekend on Saturday July 30, a drive-thru will be organized by Driscoll Health Plan to grant them school supplies and backpacks.

The drive-thru will be held at the Student Activity Complex at 5208 Santa Claudia Lane from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tdap, MCV4 and HPV immunizations will be offered to incoming seventh graders, so it is required for them to bring their immunization records if they decide to innoculate, as well as COVID-19 vaccines will be available for students who qualify.

Students must be present to receive these benefits for both districts.

“It is a way we’ve giving the community just one less cost for the family for a backpack, pens, pencils, barrels and all school supplies to help them along and be successful,” said Raymundo Cruz, Driscoll Health Plan Community Representative.
